Bantam - Week Ending Mar. 13


Rob Farrell pitched a shutout and Timmy Kippenberger had a goal and an assist in Wilmington’s 2-0 win over Lynnfield/Saugus; No. 17 scored the winner with 9:24 left, William Rappole delivered a goal and two assists and Kyle Ettenhofer had a goal and an assist as Winchester edged the Crusaders 5-4 – Doug Newton with two goals in the loss; Dom Schiappa came within 3:56 of a shutout, Brendan Bolduc scoring, and Nathan James scored one first-period goal and assisted on Mason Matzker’s goal in the first as Framingham edged the Maine Academy 2-1; and Joe Lucien came through with two goals and an assist, Ridge Field also scored twice, Sam Frechette and Sam Laroche both had two assists and Jacob Smith pitched a shutout in Maine’s 7-0 win over Waltham.


Tewksbury had a win and tie in the North. Mike Arsenault scored with 6:22 left to give Tewksbury a 2-1 decision over Arlington – and Cohen snapped Pat Letourneau’s shutout bid with 2:51 left to give Wellesley a 1-1 tie with Tewksbury, John Kenneally with a goal early in the third period for Tewksbury;

Jacob Grossi-Hogg, who assisted on his team’s first two goals, scored with 2:01 left to give Newburyport a 3-2 victory over Groton – Trent Costa tying the game for Newburyport 18 seconds before Grossi-Hogg scored the winner, Patrick Birmingham with a goal and an assist in the win; and Jacob Vozikis scored his second goal of the game with 4:25 remaining to give Burlington a 2-2 tie with Agawam – Ayers with both goals for Agawam.

In the South, Declan Harrington scored with 1:37 left to give Belmont a 3-2 decision over Lexington/Bedford – Joe Bova with two goals and Matt Brody two assists in the win; Baxter Cardamone had 1-1-2 and six different Newton players scored in a 6-1 win over South Boston; Logan Sheridan scored what turned out to be the winner early in the second period of Marblehead’s 3-1 decision over Reading; Seth DiSalvo pitched a shutout and Nolan Whitlock had a goal and an assist in North Andover’s 3-0 triumph over Andover; and No. 21 ended Zach LaBollita’s shutout bid with 1:35 left, giving SMS a 1-1 tie with Framingham – Connor Angus scoring for Framingham with 6:35 remaining.


In the North, Ben Desmarais scored what turned out to be the winner early in the second period of Needham’s 2-1 decision over Stoneham; Ayers scored one goal and dished out two assists and McLean and Fonzi both scored twice in Agawam’s 9-1 victory over Danvers; Peter Lemoine scored with 8:17 left to give Triboro a 2-1 win over Natick; and Robert DiMaggio capped Waltham’s three-goal second period with a goal with 46 seconds left and Nick DiPace assisted on two of the three goals as Waltham edged Parkway 3-2.

Lynnfield/Saugus won twice and Waltham and Woburn both won a game and tied each other in the South. Lorenzo Keegan scored four goals and set up another, Matt Roscoe posted 1-1-2 and Tyler Sitnikov had two assists as Lynnfield/Saugus stopped Winchester 6-1 – and Christian Maney and Harry Drislane both clicked for 1-1-2 as Lynnfield/Saugus downed Beverly 5-2;

Jack Lenox wore the hat and Steve Lawn had two assists in Waltham’s 5-2 victory over Charlestown; Eamon Bingel and Will Carpenter both had two goals and an assist in Woburn’s 7-1 win over Arlington – and JP Ferraro assisted on the first goal and then scored with 1:44 left to give Waltham a 2-2 tie with Woburn, Keith Ricci also with 1-1-2 for Waltham and Carpenter both goals for Woburn;

Matt Park’s second goal of the game, with 3:30 left, turned out to be the winner, Evan Tremblay had a goal and three assists, Matt Loosian posted 2-1-3 and Nico Martinez 1-1-2 as Arlington edged Charlestown 8-7 – No. 17 with two goals and three assists and Reilly with a hat trick in the loss; Cam Panaro had two goals and an assist and Jared Libby two assists in Haverhill/Pentucket’s 6-1 victory over Greater Lowell; MacDonald wore a natural hat in Medford’s 5-2 win over Newton – Carson Priante with both goals in the loss; and Jack Bartle delivered 2-2-4, Nick Brown scored one goal and dished out three assists, Pete Jussaume had 1-1-2 and Craig Jackson pitched a shutout in Acton-Boxboro’s 6-0 victory over the Edge.

Hyde Park and the Crusaders both won twice in the East. Joe Loewen scored four goals, William Stockwell scored one goal and set up three others, Kevin Bruen had 1-1-2 and Mat Brown two assists in Hyde Park’s 7-1 victory over Reading – and Justin Hurst scored late in the first period of a 2-0 win over the same team; Matt Lundin wore the hat, Eamon Crocker had a goal and two assists, Aidan Tomaszewski scored twice, Colin Moran had 1-1-2 and Evan Stone also posted two assists as the Crusaders defeated Chelmsford 9-1 – and Devin Rochelle pitched a shutout and Stone scored early in a 3-0 win over the Starhawks;

Spencer Murrin pitched a shutout and Sean Crehan scored 53 seconds into Reading’s 3-0 victory over Dorchester; Andrew Guelli scored four goals in the first period and then snapped a 4-4 tie on his fifth goal with 2:50 left as Cape Ann trimmed Triton 6-4 – Henry Conway with two assists in the win and Brad Killion and Jack Niska 1-1-2 apiece in the loss; Dan Cornetta scored twice as Nashoba nipped the Sharks 3-1; Kevin Canaday set up two goals and Chris Maul snapped a 2-2 tie with 8:32 left as Wellesley got by Cape Ann 4-2 – William Garlick with 1-1-2 in the loss; and Merkel scored two goals and set up three others and Proctor’s second goal of the game snapped a 3-3 tie 17 seconds into the third period as Somerville pulled out a 5-3 victory over Dorchester.

Groton won twice in the West. Horgan scored with 8:31 left and Freeman followed with 2:03 remaining, McFague assisting on both, in a 2-1 victory over SMS – and Horgan’s second goal of the game, with 9:04 left, gave Groton a 2-1 decision over the Crusaders;

Will Cooper scored five goals, the last three coming in the span of a minute late, giving Cambridge a 6-5 decision over Andover – Shea with two goals and O’Sullivan 1-1-2 in the loss; Marc Giordano and Nick Snook both had 1-1-2 as Everett/Revere topped Stoneham 5-1; McDonnell assisted on Houston’s goal with 5:31 left and then came through with the winner with 3:15 remaining as Andover came from two goals down to edge NH East 3-2 – Higgins with 1-1-2 in the loss; Anthony Bitsoli wore the hat and had an assist, Jackson Brinker, Zach Tam and Mike Armstrong all posted 1-1-2 and Lukas Muzila had two assists in Waltham’s 9-1 win over Stoneham; and Ryan Fleck scored the tying goal with 10:38 left and Colm O’Malley assisted on both goals as Needham tied SMS 2-2.


Acton-Boxboro, North Andover and Triboro all won twice in the North. Arthur Chigas had a goal and an assist as Acton-Boxboro downed Billerica 4-1 – and Chigas collected two goals and two assists, Cody Leighton and Cooper Matthews both posted 2-1-3 and Ryan Macri also had two assists in a 7-3 win over the Outlaws, Cam Sinopoli with two goals in the loss; Remley snapped a 1-1 tie with 10:20 left as North Andover nipped Woburn 3-1 – and Williamson pitched a shutout and D’Ambrosio scored early in a 1-0 decision over Peabody; Andrew Hadden and Joe McEvoy both had 2-1-3, Hadden snapping a 3-3 tie with 9:44 left, and Kyle Bourque dished out three assists as Triboro nipped Twin City 5-3, Zach Melanson with 1-2-3 and Jacob Berkio two goals in the loss – and Billy McCarthy and Pat Riley shared the shutout and Timmy Howard scored 12 seconds into a 3-0 victory over Concord-Carlisle;

Carl Callahan and Jack Thomas both scored twice in Wellesley’s 5-3 win over Woburn; Joe Parrinello scored both goals, the winner coming with 9:11 left in the second period as the Outlaws edged Hollis 2-1; Cam Fallon scored twice and Mike Giles and Tom Caouette both posted 1-1-2 in Lexington/Bedford’s 6-3 win over Woburn – Matt Burke with 1-1-2 in the loss; Robert Moran and Jeff Davis were in goal for Billerica and Chris Sullivan for Hollis in a 0-0 tie; JJ Maillet scored with 47 seconds left to give Twin City a 3-3 tie with North Central – Arden Zeibel with two assists for Twin City and Ethan Casavant 2-1-3, Charlie Chinian 1-1-2 and Josh Garrity two assists for North Central; and Agawam’s Joe Dufresne and Lynn’s Olivieri swapped first-period goals and the teams went on to a 1-1 tie.

In the South, William McCann scored two goals and set up another, Even Steele also scored twice and Zack Shaw and Colin Gover both had a goal and an assist in North Reading’s 8-2 win over Natick; Joe McDonald, who had an earlier assist, scored with 3:20 left to give Haverhill/Pentucket a 2-1 decision over Wakefield – Paul Gagliardi tying the game for Wakefield 17 seconds before McDonald’s winner; Nick Dapolito, who had an earlier assists, scored with 19 seconds remaining to give the Edge a 3-3 tie with Lynnfield/Saugus – Alex Evans with the other two goals for the Edge and Nick Kosmas 2-1-3 for L/S; Andrew Madden clicked for 2-1-3, Jared Knight had 1-1-2, Carter Higgins posted two assists and Jack Ellis pitched a shutout in NH East’s 7-0 win over Marblehead; Brendan Vacca and Craig Hatfield both scored twice in Wakefield’s 5-1 victory over Winthrop; Cody Ottinger (one assists) and Vince DiNicola scored 26 seconds apart in the final minute of the first period as the Demons topped the Sharks 4-1; Jack Sicurella and Mike Brooks both scored twice, Augustino Cherico had 1-1-2 and Conor Clarke two assists in Winthrop’s 6-2 victory over the Edge; and Cam Banks scored twice to lead Wilmington to a 3-2 decision over Medfield – Vachon with both goals in the loss.

Waltham won twice and Burlington A2 had a win and a tie in the East. Mac Surette pitched a shutout and Cara Schmidlein scored early in Waltham’s 1-0 win over Brookline – and No. 74 wore the hat in a 4-3 decision over Arlington; Chris Jones scored twice, James Sweeney posted 1-1-2 and Liam Gaffney had two assists in Burlington’s 6-1 victory over Melrose – and Calvin Barraclough capped a hat trick with one second left to give Newburyport a 3-3 tie with Burlington, Jones with 1-1—2 for Burlington;

Nick Hodge came within 17 seconds of a shutout and Mike Keefe scored what turned out to be the winner with 3:05 left as the Starhawks nipped Needham 3-1; Nathan Lacoste pitched a shutout and Henri Boulerice had 1-1-2 in Newton’s 3-0 win over Parkway; Devin Moran had 1-1-2, Cam Genong and Teague Olson scored in the second and the Sharks then scored three in 2:17 of the third and downed Arlington 5-1; No. 9 posted 1-2-3, Jack Lanzillo and Andrew Iannicelli both posted 1-1-2 and Billy Bridges pitched a shutout in Framingham’s 7-0 win over Needham; John Pascale scored twice and Joe Edwards posted 1-1-2 as Burlington A1 defeated Andover 6-2 – Ian Kingston with 1-1-2 and Matt Gaetano two assists in the loss; Frew Rowen wore the hat, Alex Cusumano had 1-2-3 and Jacob English 1-1-2 in Cape Ann’s 8-6 win over Danvers – Dan Glidden with a hat trick and an assist, Dan Verry a goal and three assists and Colin Kelter 1-1-2 in the loss; and Glynn posted 2-2-4, scoring what turned out to be the winner with 6:41 left, and Callhan had 1-2-3 as Masco edged Newburyport 4-3.

Medford won twice in the West. Chris Freeman scored four goals, Justin Steriti had two goals and an assist and Mike Holt two assists in a 6-2 victory over Winchester – and Aaron Hickey scored two late goals for a 3-2 decision over Newton;

Drew Bobile scored with 6:32 left to give SMS a 4-3 decision over North Central – Nathan Jorge with two goals and an assist in the loss; Cole Bolduc scored twice as Greater Lowell nipped Chelmsford 3-1; Adam Higgins scored with 3:07 left as Dorchester came from two goals down and tied Beverly 2-2; Appel scored twice and Gribov had 1-1-2, scoring what proved to be the winner midway through the second period as Newton edged Lexington/Bedford 3-2; and Jack Lenox capped a hat trick with 16 seconds left to give Waltham a 4-3 decision over Winchester.

Woburn and the Edge both won twice in the Central. Jack Maguire wore the hat and Pat Doherty had two assists in Woburn’s 4-1 victory over Haverhill/Pentucket – and Craig Regan scored twice and Doherty had a goal and an assist in a 5-2 triumph over Wellesley; Billy Carr scored twice in the third period, snapping a 2-2 tie with 5:49 left, as the Edge got by Natick 4-2 – and Liam Goddard had 2-1-3 in a 5-3 win over Methuen;

Matt Kovey had a goal and an assist and Kevin DiNapoli snapped a 1-1 tie with 2:05 left as Reading trimmed Methuen 3-1; McManus scored four goals to power the Crusaders past Reading 5-3; Colby Guilmette capped a hat trick with the winner with 10:31 left and Sam Babeau had two assists as Twin City edged Haverhill/Pentucket 5-4; and Cole Kennedy scored what turned out to be the winner in the second period as Wellesley edged Natick 2-1.
